DAY 1 // Maputo
The second day is dedicated to an International Seminar organized by Mondlane University together with Politecnico di Milano: “Territorial Planning and Sustainable Development: a research project on the Maputo Province”. Great presentations and discussion, with the first validation of the project’s assessment report. A good start for profitable cooperation!

DAY 2 // Maputo

DAY 3 // Boane
The team met the president of the Boane District Government & the rural cooperative “25 de Septembro”: good practices in food production.

DAY 4 // Namaacha
Visiting the mission and the rural technical school of Namaacha, a project by Progettomondo.mlal Moçambique.
We also visited the city council of Namaacha and the local markets.

DAY 5 // Moamba & Ressano Garcia
We traveled along the Maputo Corridor passing through Moamba, till the border post of Ressano Garcia, observing mobility practices, trade dynamics and logistics along the corridor and across the border between Mozambique and South Africa.
The team also visited the Centro de Desenvolvimento Agrario de Sabie (Mondlane University) where innovative and organic production techniques and water management systems are tested and implemented.

DAY 6-7 // Maputo Special Reserve & Inhaca Island Reserve
We visited two of the main natural reserves and cross-border cooperation protection areas in the Province, rich in biodiversity meeting the local rangers.

DAY 8 // Maputo
BOA_MA_NHÃ team met the Director of the Centro Nacional de Cartografia e Teledetecção (CENACARTA), the Director of the Centro de Programas e Políticas Agrárias (CEPPAG), the Italian Honorary Consul and members of the Gabinete de Cooperação of the Eduardo Mondlane University.

DAY 7 // Namaacha – Eswatini – Maputo
With our amazing partner Francesco Margara – we went to Namaacha to meet Erasmo, pioneering entrepreneur in the field of strawberries production and sustainable agriculture. We visited the local markets and the spectacular ruins of the Instituto João de Deus. We also crossed the border between Mozambique and Eswatini to discover a different water management and crops irrigation system.

Meanwhile in Maputo we met the illustrious architect José Forjaz and prof. Paul Jenkins, two main references for our project.

DAY 8 // Maputo
On our last day in Mozambique we met the Director of the Italian Cooperation Agency (Agenzia Italiana per la Cooperazione allo Sviluppo – Maputo), Dr. Fabio Melloni.
We then visited a series of renovation interventions in Chamanculo C neighborhood with Davide Valentino from AICS and ASF Spain.
We then moved to Mondlane University to meet with experts from Centre for Policy Analysis (CAS).
Our final stop was in Mafalala, where we were guided in the neighborhood by the NGO Iverca: we learned about the history, culture and (material and immaterial) heritage of one of the most amazing bairro of the city.
